Musical Majesty from Minnesota's Tim Cheesebrow

Tim Cheesebrow Tim Cheesebrow

I wasn't sure what to expect when I got ready to crank up my speakers to listen to Tim Cheesebrow's music. I knew it was "Americana" but that is a broad umbrella and can cover a lot of different musical territory.

When I read in his bio that he studied classical music in college and then went on to  volunteer at a monastery and school near New Orleans where he "cemented his style" I was even more unsure.

What I got when listening to his music was a great eclectic tapestry of interesting songs. There's even a commercial hit!

No doubt, Tim has a great voice and great melodies and lyrics. Also, the music nerd in me has to point out the really great chord choices LOL. But best of all, there is a real sense of a friend telling you a story when he performs his music and that human connection is truly what is important in music or any art for that matter.

Tim has a great catalog of songs to tempt you into listening to him for a spell including "I Won't Let You Down" with its amazing chorus and bridge, "The Wire" which is a haunting song that will leave you spellbound (though parts of it are reminiscent of "Hotel California"), and my personal favorite (and a hit) is "Almost Through The Dark" which is a feel-good song that has everything you could want from any musician including perfect vocals, great instrumentation and melodies that get stuck in your head all day long!

My only minor critique is that the percussion isn't as sexy as it could be--it doesn't wow you but it also doesn't distract from the enjoyment of these wonderful offerings from a musician that will stay on your favorite playlists for a long time.
